Types of Thailand Tourist Visa

While Thailand offers visa on arrival for Indian passport holders for tourism purposes, there are two main Thailand tourist visa  types:

  1. Valid Passport: A valid passport for at least six months beyond their stay in Thailand. 
  2. Photo: Two coloured photos (3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within the last 3 months, with a white background.)
  3. Sufficient Funds: Applicants must have  sufficient funds to cover their expenses while in Thailand.
  4. Accommodation: Applicants must provide proof of their stay in Thailand, like hotel bookings or a host’s invitation letter.
  5. Return Ticket: For tourist visas, applicants will need to provide proof of a return ticket or onward travel arrangements. 
  6. Health Certificate (for single entry visa): International Health Certificate for Yellow Fever Vaccination. 

How to Apply for a Thailand Tourist Visa

Follow these steps to apply for a Thailand tourist visa:

  1. Check Requirements: Check the Royal Thai Embassy’s official website in India for specific tourist visa requirements and ensure you have all the necessary documents ready. 
  2. Gather Your Documents: Collect the documents required for a Thailand tourist visa. These may include your passport with at least six months validity, passport-sized photos, proof of accommodation in Thailand, proof of sufficient funds for your stay, travel itinerary, and any additional documents specified by the embassy. 
  3. Submit Application: You can download the application form or apply through the approved visa agencies: VFS Global, BLS International and DU Digital Global. Fill out the form and get the printout.
  4. Book Appointment: You must book an appointment at the nearest visa application Centre.
  5. Pay Visa Fee: Pay the visa processing fee as directed by the embassy. Fees vary based on your stay's duration and other factors. Submit your visa application with all required documents.
  6. Wait for Processing: Once you submit your application, wait for the embassy to process it. Processing time is 4 working days. You may be able to check your visa status online.
  7. Collect Passport: Collect your passport from the embassy once your visa application is processed. If your Thailand tourist visa is approved, it will be stamped in your passport.

Note: If you are an Indian passport holder, you cannot apply through the Thai E-Visa system. You have to visit the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate to apply in person.
