26th June is known as the Passport Seva Divas in India. On the sixth Passport Seva Divas, 26 June 2018, the mPassport Seva Mobile App was launched to facilitate easier passport-related services.

mPassport Seva is a lightweight mobile application which can be easily used by Indians across the country. They can easily access various passport-related information and services on their smartphones.

This mPassport Seva app can be used on both Android and iOS devices. It lets its users easily apply for a passport; pay for the application process and even schedule appointments for various passport application procedures. Take a look at some of the features offered by this mPassport Seva mobile application:

• First-time users can create an account using the ‘New User Registration’ feature
• Users can sign in to their registered user account using the credentials provided
• Users can fill out a passport application form if they wish to apply for a Passport via the mPassport Seva app.
• Users can easily schedule their police verification for Indian passport (to get a Police Clearance Certificate)
• Payment for passport services is available
• Appointment scheduling facility available through mPassport Seva app
• Information on the location of all passport centres
• Users can also track status, i.e. application availability status
• Facility available to get help regarding documents through Document Advisor
• mPassport Seva app also provides assistance in case of queries or concerns.

Steps to Apply for Passport Using mPassport Seva Mobile Application

To apply for an Indian passport through the mPassport Seva mobile app, follow these steps:

• Step 1: Download the mPassport seva application on your phone. You can do this through the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
• Step 2: Once installed, open the mPassport Seva application on your phone
• Step 3: Click 'New User Registration' and create an account.
• Step 4: From the drop-down menu, select the nearby/applicable Passport Office
• Step 5: Now provide your details, including email ID, name, date of birth, etc.
• Step 6: You need to provide the unique login ID (this can be the same as the applicant's email ID)
• Step 7: Now set a strong password
• Step 8: You will be prompted to set up a security question in case you forget your password in future. Make sure it is something you will remember.
• Step 9: A captcha will appear; enter it and click on the 'submit' button.
• Step 10: After clicking on 'submit', you will get a verification link on your official ID that you have provided. Through this, your account will be activated.
• Step 11: You will be redirected to a new webpage after clicking this verification link. Log in with your newly created ID and password for confirmation.
• Step 12: This will verify the account. You will have to close the app and open it again.
• Step 13: Click on the 'Existing User' tab and log in using your login ID, password and entering the captcha. Now click on 'Apply for fresh passport'.
• Step 14: Fill up the passport application form online by following the instructions mentioned on the mPassport Seva app.
• Step 15: Pay the required passport application fee depending on the service opted for. You will also need to schedule an appointment for passport document submission at the nearest passport centre.

Make sure to carry all the necessary documents on the day of document submission. While the entire process takes only a few hours, it is best to be prepared to avoid any passport application mistakes later.
