Mauritius Visa Types

Indians are offered visas on arrival for tourism but must apply for suitable visas depending upon the purpose of visit:

Tourist Visa Issued for holidays, sightseeing, or visiting friends and relatives. Valid for up to 60 days.
Transit Visa This visa is for short stops/ en route to the final destination. Valid for only 3 days. If the transit time is more than 24 hours, the visa needs to be obtained before the travel date.
Student Visa For international students studying in Mauritius. Depends on the course/institution.
Spouse/Partner Visa This is for partners visiting their spouses residing in Mauritius or who are Mauritian citizens. The spouse can get permanent residency if married to a Mauritian citizen.
Business Visa This is for individuals intending to do business activities like attending meetings, trade fairs, etc., without entering the local labour market. It can be issued for 120 days per calendar year.
For a first-time visit, you can only stay for 90 days on a Business Visa.
Work Visa For those who have secured employment in Mauritius and have a job offer letter from a Mauritian company. Issued for 10 years.
Marriage Visa This type is given to those intending to wed a Mauritian citizen or resident. This visa allows a person to stay in the country for 2 years

Mauritius Digital Nomad Visa

The Mauritius Digital Nomad Visa, also known as Mauritius Premium Travel, allows individuals to stay in Mauritius for up to 12 months.

To be eligible for this visa, applicants must provide proof of a minimum monthly income of $1,500 (this amount will change if there are child dependents) from a source or main place of business that is outside of Mauritius, health and travel insurance policy to cover any medical emergencies, and documentation that supports your purpose of visit and accommodation.

Who can Apply for a Mauritius Visa?

You can apply for a Mauritius visa if you are an:

  1. Indian citizen residing in India
  2. Indian residing abroad, provided they meet eligibility requirements
  3. Individual visiting Mauritius for tourism, business, work, or study purposes

Eligibility for Applying for Mauritius Visa

To apply for a Mauritius visa, you will need to have the following:

  1. A passport validity of at least six months.
  2. Passport-size photo taken within the last 3-6 months from travel. Check for Mauritius Visa Photo Requirement.
  3. To be 18 years old or over. For minors, parents' documents are to be attached.
  4. Blank pages in your passport for the visa stamp.
  5. Financial documents, such as bank statements.
  6. No past criminal record.
  7. Basic proficiency in English, French, or Creole.
  8. A proper educational background.
  9. Any extraordinary qualifications (if applicable).
  10. Travel insurance.

How to Apply for a Mauritius Visa

There are three ways Indian citizens can apply for a Mauritius visa:

  1. Visa On Arrival

    Anybody can apply for a Visa on Arrival in Mauritius. This is the most convenient option for Indian passport holders travelling for tourism purposes. A visa on arrival is valid for 60 days.

  2. At the Embassy or Consulate of Mauritius

    If you plan to stay longer or visit for non-tourism purposes, you must apply through the Mauritius embassy or consulate.

  3. Apply Online

    In certain cases, you can apply online by contacting the embassy through their official email address, piovisa[@]govmu.org.

Mauritius Visa Fees

There are no visa fees for Indians travelling to Mauritius for travel/tourism purposes.
