Documents Required for a Malaysia Tourist Visa for Indians

Indians can visit Malaysia as tourists for up to 30 days without a visa until 31st December 2024. However, despite the visa exemption, you must submit the following documents after your arrival in Malaysia.

Hotel Booking A confirmed reservation at a hotel is necessary.
Financial Proof Evidence of adequate financial resources must be provided.
Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) The MDAC must be submitted online three days before arrival.

Types of Malaysia Tourist Visa 

There are three Malaysia tourist visa types catering to different stay periods and number of entries.

How to Apply for a Malaysia Tourist Visa?

You can visit Malaysia for 30 days without a visa until 31st December 2024. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply for a Malaysian tourist visa. 

  • Visit official website to fill up your Malaysia Digital Arrival Card. Complete this at least 3 days before visiting Malaysia.
  • Enter your personal information like name, passport details, contact details, the details of your accommodation in Malaysia, and your flight details.
  • Submit the information to generate your Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC).
  • Submit your documents like passport, flight tickets, hotel booking, financial proof, and your MDAC during the security check and immigration screening, once you arrive in Malaysia.

If you wish to apply for an e-visa instead, you must complete the following process.

  • Visit the official e-visa website
  • Click on 'I'm New' if you are applying for a Malaysia tourist visa from India for the first time.
  • Register by entering your name, contact details, and passport details, and set up your password.
  • Upload the required documents on the e-visa portal. Make sure that the documents are clear. 
  • Soon, you will receive an email notification about your Malaysia tourist visa status. You may be asked to submit further documents or you may be asked to appear for an interview at the Malaysian embassy or consulate. The average Malaysia tourist visa processing time is 2 working days. This excludes weekends, public holidays, Malaysian holidays, and local holidays.
  • Once you get your e-visa, print the visa on an A-4 sized paper. You will need to present this paper when you arrive in Malaysia.
