Documents Required For an Individual Tourist Visa

• Passport- Must be issued within the last decade, validity period of at least three months beyond the intended travel date, and have 2 blank pages.
• Old Passports- Include previous or cancelled passports showing a valid Schengen or USA/UK visa issued within the last 3 years.
• Visa Application Form- Complete the form online, print, and sign it.
• Photo- One recent photo (not older than 6 months), 3.5 x 4.5 cm in size, with a white background.
• Travel Insurance- Proof of insurance covering up to EUR 30,000 for medical expenses.
• Flight Itinerary- Round trip flight reservation showing entry and exit dates for Iceland.
• Accommodation Proof - Hotel booking or other accommodation evidence.
• Proof of Employment/Sponsorship/Study/Retirement
  • Employed: Last 3 months' pay slips and a holiday/leave letter or employment contract.
  • Self-employed: Company registration certificate.
  • Student: Enrollment confirmation from college/university.
  • Sponsored: Sponsorship proof, sponsor's letter, and a copy of sponsor's photo ID.
  • Retired: Pension statements for the last 3 months and proof of consistent income from property or business.
• Proof of Sufficient Funds:
  • Bank Statement: Original statement for the last 3 months, stamped and signed by the bank.
  • Sponsorship: Sponsorship letter and sponsor's passport copy
  • Minimum Funds: ISK 4000 (approx. INR 2,472) per day for a hotel stay or ISK 2000 (approx. INR 1,213) per day if a sponsor covers expenses.
• Income Tax- The acknowledgement for filing your tax returns in India. Submit documents for the last 2 years.
• Covering Letter- A letter explaining the purpose, duration, and travel plans for the visit.
• Additional Requirements for Minors (<18 years):
  • Travelling with one parent: Notarised consent from the other parent or guardian.
  • Travelling alone: Notarised consent from both parents/guardians, with a court order or proof of sole custody/guardianship.
  • Photocopies: Copies of both parents' passports or photo ID cards, or the applicant's birth certificate and parents' ID cards.

3. Confirmed accommodation in Iceland: Applicants need to provide proof of confirmed accommodation in Iceland for the duration of their stay.
4. Travel insurance covering medical and related expenses: It is mandatory to have travel insurance worth EUR 30,000 that covers medical emergencies and related expenses while in Iceland and the Schengen Zone.
5. Proof of financial resources: Applicants need to show they have adequate funds to cover their expenses while staying in Iceland.

How to Apply for an Iceland Visa?

Planning a trip to Iceland from India involves obtaining the appropriate visa. You can apply for all types of visas through VFS Global, the authorised visa application centre. However, you have the option to apply directly through the embassy as well.

Here is a guide on how to apply for an Iceland visa.

1. Select the visa type: Before you apply, you must be clear about your purpose of visiting Iceland. Depending on the travel purpose and duration, select a visa type.
2. Fill out the visa application form: You can apply for an Iceland visa from India through the VFS Global website. You can fill up the form there and book an appointment at the nearest visa application centre.
   Alternatively, you can fill up the visa form with your personal details through the Government visa portal. After filling out the form, you can book an appointment at the nearest VFS visa application centre.
3. Collect all the necessary documents: Gather all the necessary papers, like your passport, photographs, travel itinerary, and any other documents mentioned in the application form or on the embassy's website.
4. Book an appointment at the nearest VFS Global Centre: Schedule a time to submit your application and have an interview at the VFS Global Center. Ensure you book this appointment in advance to secure your spot.
5. Attend the appointment and pay the visa fee: Bring all your documents to the application centre on the assigned date. Pay the required fees as well.
6. Biometrics: Provide biometric data (fingerprints and photos) during your visit to the Visa Application Centre.
