India’s cosmopolitan spirit is well-known, especially the zeal with which we celebrate different festivals. With December approaching, we are nearing the end of another year. December is also the start of the much-awaited holidays, whether for Christmas or winter vacations. If you’ve been planning a Christmas getaway, then good news! Many Asian countries have relaxed their visa requirements and now offer visa-free entry for Indian visitors.
Christmas is among the busiest times in most countries. It also coincides with winter semester break for most students, making it a perfect time to plan a short trip abroad. Bonus points for Indians going abroad for honeymoon; the winter break around Christmas is among the most vibrant and romantic times to spend some quality time with your loved one.
To top this perfect mood and setting, many countries have recently announced visa-free entry for Indian tourists for a limited duration! This is a piece of great news for those impulsive travellers who are still planning this year’s last vacation. Here are the countries implementing visa-free entry for Indians for the upcoming months:
Earlier, an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) was required to enter Sri Lanka. However, to boost tourism from nearby countries, Sri Lanka is now visa-free for Indians as well as tourists from six more countries. These include China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.
Sri Lanka tourist visas for Indian visitors are free until March 31, 2025. Travellers will be given a dual entry status once they arrive, and their Sri Lanka visa will be valid for 30 days.
Sri Lanka has been a favourite tourist destination among Indians, and this move will certainly make it easier for many Indians who wish to travel abroad this winter. As you plan your trip, don’t forget to buy travel insurance for Sri Lanka. Not only is it affordable and easy to purchase, but also comes with all-rounder protection. It covers many minor and major expenses due to medical emergencies, flight-related issues, trip interruptions and more.
December 3 2025 onwards, Indians can visit Malaysia without any visa and stay in the country for up to 30 days. However, visitors are subject to strict initial screenings to maintain security. This visa-free entry to Malaysia has also been extended to other countries, namely the ASEAN countries.
The move hopes to improve Malaysia’s tourism industry and encourage investors and tourists from neighbouring countries to visit uninhibitedly. What’s more, being a very budget-friendly destination, Malaysia can be your perfect winter vacation destination suitable for everyone. For families, couples, or students travelling abroad, Malaysia is definitely a must-visit destination promising a lot of fun.
One of the most loved destinations among Indian tourists, Thailand is surely a perfect package for most of us. Earlier, Indians could get a visa on arrival for Thailand. However, it has also offered visa-free entry for Indian tourists for up to 30 days. The visa waiver was introduced last month and is applicable until May 10, 2025.Â
This facility has been provided to visitors from India and Taiwan, hoping to boost tourism in the upcoming months. It is also among the best places among Indians planning their honeymoon, so don’t forget to grab this opportunity!Â
Joining the list of countries offering visa free entry to Indian passport holders, last week, Vietnam suggested that it may waive visa requirements for Indian tourists. Hoping to encourage tourists from India and China, the visa waiver will be extended to several affluent countries, including India, Canada, Australia, EU member countries and more.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed the waiver last week; however, a formal announcement has yet to be made by their official sources. As of now, India tourists must apply for a Vietnam eVisa or get a Vietnam visa on arrival at select airports.
The end of the year calls for a grand celebration; what could be better than planning a trip with your loved ones? Indian passport holders are being offered relaxed visa requirements, making it easier to take international trips. Three of these countries are among the most popular budget travel destinations with close proximity to India. So what are you waiting for? Quickly book those flights and start planning!
