      Under the motor vehicle rules, it is necessary to get your vehicle permanently registered in UP RTO. You will need the following documents for the same:

      Documents Required for RC Ownership Transfer

      Usually a vehicle’s ownership is transferred in three major scenarios. These include the death of the owner, theft of the vehicle, or during the normal sale of the vehicle. For transfer of ownership of a vehicle under the Uttar Pradesh RTO, you will be required to submit the following documents:

      Death certificate of the owner of the vehicle

      Uttar Pradesh Road Tax for Different Vehicles

      The road tax in Uttar Pradesh is calculated based on the ex-showroom value of the vehicle. The table mentioned below shows the road tax for four-wheelers in Uttar Pradesh:

      Between Rs. 6 and 10 Lakh 6% of the value

      How to Pay Uttar Pradesh Road Tax Online?

      Here is how you can pay road tax online in the state of Uttar Pradesh:

      Now select the RTO state as Uttar Pradesh

      Enter your vehicle registration number in the given form

      Fine for Non-Payment of Uttar Pradesh Road Tax

      If a vehicle owner does not pay road tax, then he/she may be subject to penalties for such non-payment.

      For non-payment of the said road tax, you will have to pay 4% of the due tax as a penalty to the Uttar Pradesh transport department. Moreover, if the lifetime road tax is not paid, the penalty will be 1/10th of the tax amount each year.

      Termination of Hypothecation in Uttar Pradesh

      The termination of hypothecation from the RC can be made when the vehicle's loan has been repaid in full. Once the hypothecation is terminated, the owner gets the complete ownership rights of the vehicle.
