For the continuous use of a motor vehicle, a vehicle's registration certificate is required to be renewed within 60 days of its expiry date. Here is how you can renew your registration certificate in Maharashtra RTO:

To register a vehicle in Maharashtra, you will be required to pay the following fees for different vehicles:

Visit the Parivahan Sewa website
From the "Online Services" dropdown, select "Vehicle Related Services" option
Now select Maharashtra as the state from the list
On the next page, select the RTO from where your vehicle has been registered
Click on Proceed
From the list of services, select the "Pay Tax" option
Make the road tax payment online
Download the payment receipt.
If you fail to pay road tax for Maharashtra, you may be subject to heavy penalties. A fine of Rs. 300 will be required for first-time offenders. This penalty may increase to a one-time tax payable for that particular category.
If repeated, you may have to pay two times the sum equal to a one-time payable tax.
If you have purchased your vehicle on hypothecation, it is necessary to get it endorsed/added to your registration certificate. Here are the documents required for entry of hypothecation in your vehicle’s RC:

A termination of hypothecation can be done when the vehicle owner has paid his/her loan in full. After termination, the owner gets sole ownership of the vehicle, and the lender’s name is replaced with their name on the RC.

For the removal/cancellation of hypothecation, a fee of Rs. 100 is charged.
