A High-Security Registration Plate, commonly known as an HSRP, is a vehicle number plate designed to curb vehicle theft through increased security features. These plates are designed to be difficult to tamper with and duplicate.
An HSRP is an aluminium licence plate recorded electronically and connected to your vehicle. This number plate has a unique identification number, the vehicle registration number, and a hologram. The permanent identification number is a 10-digit number etched using laser technology. This security feature makes it difficult for thieves to forge the plate.
All the vehicles that were sold after 2019 have an HSRP number plate installed. However, any vehicle that is older than 2019 must get this plate affixed by applying for it online or offline. The benefits of HSRP are:
Improved Safety: Safety features like laser-etched codes, holograms, and unique identification numbers enhance a vehicle's safety.
Curbing Theft: Tempering with number plates is also reduced with HSRP. Due to the safety features, thieves cannot modify these number plates thus reducing theft-related incidents.
Quick Verification: Traffic police can also quickly verify an HSRP number plate in case they want to check the vehicle's details.
Uniformity: Since HSRPs follow a national standard and similar design, uniformity across states is maintained. This makes it easier to identify and track vehicles inside and outside the state.
