An e-challan refers to an electronically generated challan in case you break any traffic rule or regulation. Earlier, traffic police used to give manual receipts for challans for breaking traffic rules. However, this traditional method of generating challan receipts has been replaced by the e-challan system.
Under an e-challan system, a digital challan is issued via a swiping machine within seconds of a traffic rule violation. This system is beneficial as it helps tackle traffic rule violations efficiently and with transparency.

An E-challan system is beneficial in many ways. Some of the benefits are:
The e-challan system is more efficient than a traditional challan system. It reduces the time taken to issue the challan, making it quicker.
Besides, an e-challan can be issued within a few minutes. Even if the vehicle owner is absent, he/she is immediately informed about the challan via SMS or WhatsApp.
The process of issuing an e-challan also helps curb corrupt practices like bribery, thus resulting in complete transparency.
As e-challans are electronically generated, factual errors are reduced under an e-challan system.
