Let us discuss the five ways to make a child independent. 

  1. Let Them make Mistake

    This may seem bizarre to let the children make mistakes. However, the parents must note that the mistakes teach the children how they can succeed in life. The parents should not scold the child when he makes a mistake. Instead, they should make him feel that it is okay to make error and that they may do better next time. This encourages children to do better in their next attempt. The parents should come up with new or experienced strategies to rectify the mistakes made by children. In addition, they should welcome mistakes as learning opportunities.

  2. Let the Child Help

    Children always wish to help their parents. This can be a great tool for parents to build independence in their children. In addition, this also gives children a sense of control. The parents increase the confidence of their children when they allow them to help. This also gives children an opportunity to learn or experience something new. In addition, this is one of the great ways to involve the child in daily activities and routines.   4. Give Them Space

    The parents must give their children some space to learn and develop. The children can only be independent if they have such opportunities. Therefore, the parents should give them plenty of opportunities to explore themselves. In addition, if the siblings are playing in one room, the parents should not disturb them unless they notice a conflict between the children. Moreover, the parents should give them a chance to resolve their dispute on their own if any. 

  5. Teach Problem-Solving Skills

    The parents must pay heed towards teaching problem-solving skills to their children. This is important for fostering independence. Therefore, the parent should not provide them solution immediately. They should test their mind and let them find an appropriate solution for any issue that they or their house are facing.
