The parents do not support their child in every circumstance. They fail to give time and listen to the issues they are facing. This is one of the signs of bad parenting.
A parent must not trust the child blindly. However, the parents must inculcate discipline and teach good manners to avoid a lack of trust. Nonetheless, the parents must trust the child and should not show distrust. Showing distrust is a sign of bad parenting.
A child is a special gift for a parent. However, he is just like another child for the rest of the world. Too much pampering encourages the child to adapt to bad manners. The parents pamper him too much and never teach him discipline.
The parents must give good advice to a child. At the same time, they should also encourage the child towards a good cause. However, the parents advise the child to score better marks and do not appreciate when he scores an ideal number. Instead of saying (You’re an intelligent child, I’ll help you score more marks next time), they say (you should increase the time of your study).
The parents do not acknowledge a small accomplishment of the child. Avoiding such an accomplishment lowers his self-esteem.
The parents keep the child in discipline. They impose harsh discipline that affects the child negatively. The parents must avoid it.
The parent does not speak or talk to the child in a calm tone. They teach or explain a subject to the child in a criticising tone. It shows disapproval and leaves a negative mark on the child.
The parents do not be consistent with their parenting. They sometimes discontinue it. In other words, they fail to monitor the child and recognise his behaviour and accordingly punish the child whenever necessary.
The parent does not have the presence of mind while talking to the spouse. They start arguing petty things with the spouse when the child is present. Moreover, they do not avoid arguing unnecessarily in front of the child. Such arguments have a negative impact on the child.
Not respecting the feelings of a child is another sign of bad parenting. This happens when the parents fail to have a conversation with the child and understand his opinions.
The parent does not feel any hesitation in scolding or punishing the child in front of siblings, cousins, guests and neighbours. The parents even slap the child irrespective of the place and people.
The parents decide everything for the child. They are the ones who decide the school and college he should study in and the clothes he should wear. They never take the opinion of the child. The parents tend to be so rigid that they forget to give a choice to the child.
The parents do not listen to the child and scold or slap him even when he speaks the truth and the right thing. They never pay heed to his point of view and keep committing the mistakes by scolding him.
A child deserves to be taken care of in a good parenting style. The parents must avoid the bad parenting style and impose the good style on the child.
