1. Authoritarian Parenting

   Parents who follow an authoritarian style of parenting tend to be strict and keep high expectations from their children. They set some rigid rules and expected the children to follow them without any mistakes. In addition, they never give any explanation for the rules they set for the kids. In case a child fails to follow such rules, the parent imposes severe punishment so that the child can never repeat himself and never break the rules in future. 

   

2. Permissive Parenting

   The parents who follow this style of parenting impose limited rules on their children. In addition, they do not expect the child to follow such rules. They also do not impose any corporal punishment if a child breaks any rule. This style of parenting involves a great level of affection and warmth for the children. The parent keeps low expectations from the child and supports them emotionally and practically whenever they need it. 

3. Authoritative Parenting

   Authoritative parenting is described as “tough but fair” or “firm but nurturing”. Parents who follow an authoritative parenting style tend to be responsive and supportive. They expect a lot from the child. At the same time, they also support the child to achieve the goal that the child and the parents have set for him. They involve the child while making a decision and appreciate the opinion of the child and advise him whenever needed. 

4. Uninvolved Parenting

   Uninvolved parenting is also known and referred to as neglectful parenting. They do not respond to the child. In addition, they do not make any demands and do not expect a lot from the child. They are less supportive and responsive towards the child. These parents rarely set any rules for the child and expect the child to behave. 

5. Positive Parenting

   The parents under this style of parenting emotionally connect with the children and kindly set boundaries. They set rules for the children. At the same time, they also give a proper explanation for imposing such rules. Positive parenting is more like authoritative parenting. However, this is more popular and friendly style parenting. 

6. Gentle Parenting

   Gentle parenting focuses on building a strong connection with the child. This is done through respect, empathy and understanding. This style of parenting involves open communication and partnerships between the parents and the children. Gentle parenting helps children to make positive decisions and manage their emotions. 

7. Attachment Parenting

   This is a modern form of parenting. It is philosophy which is based on the attachment theory. The parents tend to be responsive to the requirements of the child. Attachment parenting promotes empathy, physical touch and responsiveness. 

8. Free-Range Parenting

   Free-range parenting allows the children more autonomy. The parents impose less rules and supervision on the child. 

9. Helicopter Parenting

   This is another style of parenting which involves the parents being present in the life of the child. The parents who follow this style of parenting tend to be overprotective and controlling. 

10. European Parenting

    European parenting involves fewer rigid rules. The parents do not punish the children for breaking the rules. The parents involve the children in adult dinner parties and grant them more autonomy.
