1/4 cup rice (white or brown)
1/4 cup moong dal (split yellow lentils)
1 tablespoon oats
1 tablespoon roasted gram dal (optional)
1 tablespoon almonds or cashews (optional)
1 tablespoon powdered jaggery (optional for sweetness)
1 cup water or breast milk/formula milk
In a dry pan, start by roasting the rice, moong dal, and oats separately over low heat until they turn golden and release a nutty aroma. You can also roast the almonds or cashews for added nutrition. This roasting step enhances the flavor and makes it easier for your baby to digest the grains.
Once the ingredients are roasted and cooled, grind them into a fine powder using a blender or food processor. This powder is your homemade cerelac base and can be stored in an airtight container for up to a month.
