PolicyBazaar’s Mumbai operations completes two years this August. What started as a small office with only four-five tele-callers, now has a large workforce of 400-500 people.
Pradeep Yadav, Head of Mumbai operations has seen the office growing from scratch. He feels that having a huge workforce, managing it efficiently, and improving productivity is in itself an achievement. He says, “if I go back and see the journey, it feels surreal; and too good to be true.”
Being punctual, efficient, and disciplined are the core work ethics followed by Mumbaikars, which a core requirement, especially in a sales environment. “We always tell our agents that you can crawl, walk, and run but you can not stop. The moment you stop, you are dead and sales are like that,” says Amol Sawant, Associate Vice President (Operations).
KEY TO SUCCESS IS DISCIPLINE
What sets Mumbai apart from others is the office ethics which are pretty much in place. “You don’t have to go back and reiterate that those are being followed upon,” adds Yadav.
“We always remember three things which our supervisors follow - If not us, then who? If not now, then when? If not here, then where? This is the only place where everybody can grow in terms of their career,” says Sawant.
Being a metropolitan and the business capital of India, one can find people speaking various languages in Mumbai.
“People from different backgrounds live here who speak Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, etc. In sales, people relate with a person if they talk in their own language. Mumbai is a city where we can get such people easily,” says Sawant.
