Feeling Inadequately Insured? 3 Ways To Extend Your Health Insurance CoverLeader Speak
The pandemic has led organizations to adapt to the new normal?Work from Home. Contrary to the perception before the pandemic that work from home is easier, now that we are practicing it, we have realized that it has its own set of challenges and difficulties. “We were scared when Covid-19 happened because we have a staff of 13,000 people and we had to move them to work from home. But when that happened on March 24 on the imposition of lockdown, our revenue numbers were pretty much the same as they were earlier. Since then, the business has held up largely. It worked for us like a dream,” said Yashish Dahiya, Group CEO and Co-Founder, Policybazaar at a webinar organized by Argil DX titled “Simplifying and Making Buying Decisions in a Phygital World”. The webinar was moderated by standup comedian Sapan Verma.
The contact center is at the core of Policybazaar and employs a big chunk of the overall workforce. The idea of running a full-fledged contact centre from home seems a bit insane? Right? Not only did Policybazaar manage to do that in a week’s time but it has resulted in an improvement of overall efficiency and productivity of employees. “Work from home led to people to make choices about how disciplined they want to be. In majority, most people made the right decision of being disciplined,” he added.

Policybazaar recorded a 35-40% growth in sales in April despite the start of the new financial year traditionally being a lean season for insurance purchases. Demand for health and life insurance has increased as people are buying insurance as a means of protection rather than investment, especially after the pandemic. “In the last four months, Work from home taught me that discipline is far more important than motivation. Motivation can’t last every day but if you have discipline, you will keep going. As an organization, we were able to demonstrate oodles of discipline that held us well.
The primary objective of Policybazaar will be to increase market share. The organization is working hard in achieving this by simplifying processes for the customers. “Hoping that we come out of this crisis with more than 25% market share of health insurance and we are hitting the gas,” Dahiya had said earlier. Dahiya had regularly communicated with employees on maintaining discipline during the lockdown. He had suggested the employees break down their day into small 45 min - 90 min slots and decide what they will achieve in each slot. “That's the best way to grow in whatever you are doing,” he added.
