Bought a new bike?

With this article, we will try to provide some great tips for first-time motorcycle riders including both new and used bikes that will fit almost any budget. Along with that, we will also provide some safety and maintenance tips and some great ways to learn how to become a better rider.

Keep the Right Attitude for Learning

When learning to drive a motorbike for the first time, your attitude plays an important role. Most importantly, you should neither be too scared and nor too confident. Have faith in yourself and the other person who is training you to drive and with some practice, you will surely get to be one of the safest bike riders on the road. The right attitude is the key to learn any new thing, especially driving.

Research the Best Beginner Motorcycles, and then Buy One Used

It is tempting to buy the best and most powerful motorcycle on the market; you have to remember that you are still learning to ride. In the same way you don’t learn on a new car, you should learn on an old bike to start with.

Avoid Freeways, Highways, and Interstates till you try your Hands-on

The more you practice, the better it is. With hands-on experience, you will become a safe rider and earn confidence. Till then you can avoid taking your bike to highways and high traffic areas or anywhere out of your driving-comfort zone. Once you become familiar with the speed and roads then you will be in a better position to take your bike in congested areas that require more skills.

This will ensure your safety and other’s safety and once you are trained you can hit the roads wherever you want to.

No Passengers Until you Gain Confidence

You should not put others’ safety at risk till you are comfortable on turns and know how to drive through the traffic. With a pillion rider, you will need to make adjustments to the suspension of your motorcycle.  Not to mention, it would also require you to take control of the bike for all the extra weight during turns and at the time of applying the brakes.

And if you have no other choice but to ride with someone then pick someone who knows how to ride or is habitual to sitting on the back of a motorcycle. Such a person would know how to balance in certain situations and it will be easier for you to ride with them. And when you are going wrong, an experienced person can guide you on what to do next.

Get Some High-quality Safety Gear

Your safety is a priority. Make sure that you do not skip on your two-wheelers safety gear in case you flung off your bike.  Don’t take it lightly, especially when you are learning to ride a bike.

Similarly, also buy a high-grade bike helmet to protect your head from severe accidental injuries.

Motorcycle Parts and Maintenance

Owning a bike is just the beginning of the riding experience. Once it gets to your garage you can get to familiarize yourself with the bike’s parts and how to maintain them. For this check your motorcycle’s manual. There is an OEM maintenance checklist that can guide you through checking the engine oil, tightening the chains, checking the tyre pressure, or preparing the bike for storage during winter season.

It is imperative to inspect your motorcycle before and after every bike ride to make sure that the bike is not dangerous to ride in the future. For most of the riders, it is a pre-ride routine. You can start by checking the tyre pressure, hopping on the bike, twisting the throttle, and apply brakes while rocking the bike back and forth.

Make sure that you have enough fuel to get to your destination. After getting back from the ride, you can check if the bike lights are working, nothing is dripping, or there isn’t any nail in the bike’s tyre.  All of this can be menacing at first, but once it is a part of the routine and will make you a better bike rider.

So, if you are learning to ride or are planning to do so anytime soon, then make sure that you refer to the above-mentioned helpful tips and hit the roads with style and safety both.
