Being one of the most visited destinations in India, Jaipur attracts a large population from all over the world. Moreover, it is the 11th most populated city in India. Due to this, managing traffic has always been a challenge for the Jaipur Traffic Police. To keep a check on traffic rule violations and congestion on road, they have imposed stringent traffic challan rates in the city.
Despite being a highly populated city, the traffic conditions in Jaipur are better than most Indian cities. This is due to broad & smooth roads and lesser obstacles like potholes and speed breakers. Moreover, the traffic police of Jaipur are extremely strict and issue e-challans to anyone violating the traffic rules.
Traffic violations in Jaipur have increased marginally over the last few years. The major reason behind these increased traffic violations in Jaipur is the overspeeding of vehicles. To curb this and penalise the violators, Jaipur Police monitor the traffic using CCTV cameras across the city.
With an aim to promote road safety, the Jaipur Traffic Police implemented the New Motor Vehicles Act, 2019 ten months after it became effective from September 1, 2019. Under this amended act, the Government substantially increased traffic challan rates to reduce traffic rules violations in India.
However, Rajasthan, later, reduced certain traffic challans to a tenth of what was implemented under the new motor laws. Thus, every vehicle owner in Jaipur has to follow these traffic rules mandatorily to avoid being heavily fined.
To avoid Jaipur traffic fines, every car owner in the city must carry these documents while driving on roads:
A car driver in Jaipur caught without any of these mandatory documents by the traffic police, will be considered as a traffic rule violator. He/she will be subject to relevant Jaipur traffic challan.
