Visa Information for Malaysia

Since 2017, the Malaysian Government has extended the electronic visa facility to Indian nationals to facilitate tourism in Malaysia. Indians can simply apply for an eVisa or eNTRI (Electronic Travel Registration and Information).

Following are the different kinds of Visas offered to Indian nationals:

  • eNTRI: Valid for 3 months
  • Multiple Entry eVisa: Valid for 3 to 12 months
  • Single Entry eVisa: Valid for 3 months

The eVisa allows them to stay in Malaysia for up to 30 days while the eNTRI allows Indians to stay in Malaysia for 15 days within 3 months. However, the eNTRI visa waiver is for single-entry only and can't be issued for at least the next three months.

Malaysia eVisa Application Requirements

  • Should not be registered under the Suspect List of the Immigration Department of Malaysia or the Stolen Lost Travel Document (STLD) system
  • Last page of the passport

  • If the traveller is a minor, then a birth certificate is necessary

Entry Information for Indian Citizens Travelling to Malaysia

Upon arrival, the following documents may be required:

  • Malaysian eVisa or eNTRI
  • Confirmed return/onward flight tickets
  • Boarding pass

COVID-19 Entry Requirements

  • A valid passport
  • Negative COVID-19 PCR test not older than 72 hours from departure
  • Mandatory quarantine of 7 days is required for fully vaccinated travellers and 10 days for unvaccinated travellers; the travellers must undergo quarantine at their own expense.
  • Download and activate the My Sejahtera application on your phones before departure

Due to the changing guidelines, it is advised to confirm the latest COVID-19 entry requirements with your airline or nearby consulate.

  • Valid Indian passport with minimum 2 empty pages and a minimum validity of 6 months

  • Minor applicants would need a birth certificate
  • Proof of vaccination, wherever applicable

Once you receive your eNTRI note or eVisa, you should take out a print on an A4 sized sheet and keep it with your passport to be furnished on arrival in Malaysia.
