The inaugural edition of the New Delhi Marathon will be sponsored by Ageas Federal Life Insurance. Ageas being the title sponsor, the Marathon will now be called Ageas Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon. The marathon will be held in the city on the last Sunday of February. Virat Kohli, the captain of India’s Test Cricket Team, will be the ‘Face of the Event’. More than 15,000 participants are expected to be seen on the streets on 28th February 2016.

The event is categorized into 3 types - 42 km Full Marathon, 21 km Half Marathon, and 5 Km Swachh Bharat Run (to promote the idea of a clean and green India).
The marathon has announced a prize pot of Rs 35 lacs across elite and age-group categories. However, only Indian nationals are allowed to participate in the elite event with an intention to promote running as a sport in India.
The Running Partner for this upcoming event will be Adidas and will be conducting special running clubs to help enthusiasts take to running as a fitness platform. Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has honored Ageas Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon with the title of ‘National Marathon Championship 2016’. The athletes participating and performing well in this event will have a chance to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Additionally, performance will also lead to national ranking for runners for the year 2016.
