Read moreLIC offers a variety of insurance products, providing ongoing assurance to policyholders. Sometimes, people accidentally lose their policy details, making it hard to track their policies. In addition to this, parents often buy policies for their children without informing them about the documents. This can create issues for loved ones when making claims after a parent's death. However, there's no need to worry. Finding policy numbers on the LIC portal is easy. The portal helps customers retrieve their policy numbers if they need to be remembered or misplaced. To do this, policyholders need to use the correct details, such as the name and date of birth, given when buying the policy.
Let’s understand the steps to find your LIC policy number:
LIC requires policyholders to create an account on its website before purchasing a policy. The policyholder provides accurate credentials, which are used to locate policy numbers.
Login to the LIC Portal: Go to the LIC e-services portal and log in using your username and password.
Enter Accurate Details: Input your credentials correctly.
Display Policy Number: Your policy number will be displayed on the screen. Note it down or save it for future reference.
You can also view all details, including premium payment information and accumulated bonuses. Follow these steps to track your LIC policy status:
Visit the LIC e-Services Portal: Go to the official LIC e-service portal.
Select User Type: Choose 'New User' or 'Registered User' as applicable.
Enter Login Credentials: Enter your username and password to log in.
Select 'Policy Status' Option: Select the 'Policy Status' option from the menu once logged in.

Before opting for offline methods, note that LIC offers only online methods for unclaimed policies that remain unclaimed for at least 6 months from maturity. These methods do not apply to the active policies during the policy period.
For your convenience, there are various offline methods. If you wish to get any information about the active policies in your name, you can visit the nearest branch or directly contact the LIC agent. Following are the below-mentioned steps to be taken to locate the policy number:
Contact your LIC Agent
Contacting your agent is one of the most effective and simplest methods. If your LIC agents are in contact with you, it becomes quite convenient to get the details of your policies. LIC agents have their LIC ‘agent portal’ to access the company database and recover the policy number quickly. The agent will only be required to provide the policyholder’s name and date of birth. This is the easiest method if you misplaced the policy number or details.
Contact Home Branch
Suppose the policyholder cannot find the policy number through any agent or has no online profile on the LIC portal. In that case, the policyholder can locate the policy number by visiting the LIC branch from where the policy was purchased first. LIC officials will start the recovery process using any of the official policy documents provided to them. While visiting the LIC branch, bring your PAN card and other ID cards. LIC officials validate the details of the policyholder. Once the verification has been completed, the LIC staff will provide you with the policy number. If there is no online presence of policyholder’s details, then LIC officials will be liable to check the data manually.
Locate information from any nearest branch of the LIC
If the policyholder cannot visit the home branch, he/she can visit any nearest LIC branch and request the policy number. The PAN card, along with your full name and date of birth, is required.
Digital Records: Save a scanned copy of your policy document, including your term insurance policy details, on your computer or cloud storage for quick access.
Email Backup: Forward your policy document and premium receipts to your email for easy access.
Mobile Apps: Use LIC’s mobile app to keep track of your policy details.
Notebook: Write down your policy number in a secure notebook that you regularly use.
Finding your LIC policy number doesn’t have to be complicated. Using the above methods, you can quickly locate your policy number and ensure to stay updated on your policy. Keeping your policy number handy will save you time and stress, making your experience with LIC smooth and hassle-free.
