The SBI Life NRI Portfolio Investment Services allow you to invest in the shares of the companies in India in the secondary market. These investments are made on repatriation or non-repatriation basis by a recognized stockbroker. NRI PIS services are available in selected SBI Life branches across India. You can invest on a repatriation basis under PIS up to 5% of the paid-up capital in debtors of Indian companies listed on the stock exchange.Â
The Indian Government introduced the National Pension Scheme or NPS as a part of Pension Sector reforms. The objective behind the scheme was to provide social security to all citizens of India. SBI Life NRI investment offers NPS for NRIs with two distinct NPS accounts:
Tier I Account: It is the primary pension account mandatory to open for you to avail of the SBI Life NPS. The minimum fee at the time of account opening is Rs.500. Tier I account offers a partial withdrawal option of accumulated pension wealth up to 25% after a 3-year lock-in period.
Tier II Account: You can open a Tier II account voluntarily for investment purposes. This type of account enables you to withdraw funds at any time without any limit.Â
You have to fulfill the following requirements and submit the below-mentioned documents before applying as an investor in SBI Life funds:
An NRE/NRO Bank Account: The first and most important requirement for you is to open a Non-Resident External (NRE) or Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) bank account. You have to open such an account in your name. You can also open a joint NRO account with one or more NRIs or Indian citizens.
Documentation: A set of certain documents are mandatory for you to produce to invest in Indian funds:
You must duly fill the KYC form
You must duly sign the form
Your self-attested identity proof must be submitted (Aadhar Card, Passport, etc.).
You must submit an address proof. The address proof must include a correspondence address and an overseas address.
You must also submit a canceled cheque of the NRE/NRO Account.
KYC/In-Person Verification (IPV): SBI Life Fund NRI KYC is a seamless process that is done online. IPV can also be done on a video call.
Requirements for you to apply for SBI Life Insurance are:

An initial deposit equivalent to your premium installment as per the plan of your choice

You can subscribe to the SBI Life National Pension Scheme by applying in the following ways:
Online Mode: You can subscribe online by visiting the bank website and choosing 'NPS Registration' under the 'e-Services' menu.Â
Offline Mode: You can visit your nearest SBI Life branch and submit the NPS registration form and NPS Contribution Instruction Slip. You must also submit self-attested KYC documents.
