After a week of subdued response, the Star Health & Allied Insurance Company has cut its initial public offering (IPO) size by Rs 849 crore. As per the recent prospectus, the IPO for the company has been cut from Rs 7,249 crore to Rs 6,400 crore ($848.02 million).
Star Health IPO Fails to Garner Full Subscription
Star Health Insurance, which is India’s largest private health insurance company, failed to get its IPO fully subscribed last week. This pointed at a weak demand by the investors for the third biggest listing in India despite being backed by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Although the subscription period was extended, the company decided to cut its offer for the sale portion of the IPO.
Initially, the Star Health IPO was priced between Rs 870 to Rs 900 per share. However, the IPO offer for sale now is 48.89 million shares along with a fresh issue of 22.2 million shares, as stated in the 7th December prospectus.
