Documents Required for National Car Insurance Claim

Here is the list of documents you will need while seeking a claim for your car insurance. Let’s check these out:

      • Copy of original driving licence
      • Registration certificate of the Car (RC)
      • Copy of Insurance Policy
      • Claim Settlement form duly filled and signed
      • Bills and receipts of repair (If applying for reimbursement)
      • FIR copy from the police station (If required)
      • Any other documents as mandated by the insurance company

Types of National Insurance Claim Settlement Process

There are two types of claims a policyholder can seek under the car insurance policy of National Insurance General Insurance Co. Ltd. They are cashless claims and reimbursement claims. Here’s a brief of these:

      1. Cashless Claim Process

When you opt for a cashless claim, it means you don’t have to pay for any repair bills or expenses. The cashless claim allows you to get all the servicing done at the insurance provider's network garage, and the bills will be directly settled by the company.

      2. Reimbursement Claim Process

A reimbursement claim refers to a case where you have to first pay the expenses and charges for the repair bills, and then you can seek reimbursement from the insurance company later on. Upon verification, the insurer will reimburse you for the claim amount after the repairs.

How to File a National Insurance Car Insurance Claim?

Here is how a policyholder can file a claim under National car insurance:

      1. Accidental Claims

The steps for availing cashless claim are mentioned below:

        • Claim Intimation: First, contact the insurance company's customer care team after the accident.
        • Car Inspection: Then, you will receive a claim registration number from the company. Thereafter, the company will arrange for a surveyor to inspect the car.
        • Documents Submission: Make sure to submit all the documents regarding your car insurance and other required details.
        • Claim Settlement: Thereafter, your car will be taken to the repair centre, where the insurance company will pay any arising liability for your car repairs directly to the network garage.
      2. Third Party Claims

        • Inform the insurer and file an FIR at the nearest police station soon after the accident
        • You will also be required to raise a claim in the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal for the same
        • Now, the claim will be heard by the MACT, and its decision will be considered final
        • Upon hearing, the court will decide the compensation to be paid to the third party. The insurer will then pay the compensation to the third party and the claim will be settled.
