      Documents Required for HDFC Ergo Car Insurance Claim

      Here are the documents needed to raise an HDFC Ergo car insurance claim:

      • Copy of the car's Registration Certificate
      • Copy of the driving license of the person driving at the time of the accident
      • Police FIR for theft and third-party claims
      • Estimate of repairs
      • KYC, AML documents
      • Copy of vehicle's insurance policy

      • Repair bills

      Types of HDFC Ergo Claim Settlement Process

      HDFC Ergo General Insurance Company offers policyholders two types of claim settlement processes. Let us understand these below:

      Cashless Claim Settlement Process

      Under a cashless claim settlement, the policyholder is not required to pay for the repairs from his/her pocket. The insured vehicle is repaired in an authorised network garage of the insurer. Once the repairs are done, the insurer directly settles the claim with the authorised garage, thus saving policyholders from incurring expenses from their pocket.

      Reimbursement Claim Settlement Process

      A reimbursement car insurance claim settlement is done when the policyholder gets his/her car repaired in a non-network garage. Under this process, the insurer reimburses the claim amount to the policyholder after the repairs are complete. It also requires repair bills and estimates of repair for the claim to be settled.

      How to File an HDFC Ergo Car Insurance Claim?

      Follow these steps to file an HDFC Ergo car insurance claim:

      Accidental Claims

      • Claim Intimation: As soon as your car meets with an accident, inform the insurance company about raising the claim.
      • Damage Assessment: The insurer will then send a surveyor to assess the damages sustained by the insured car.
      • Documents Verification: Submit the essential documents required for claim verification
      • Claim Settlement: Once the insured car has been repaired in the authorised garage, the insurer will settle the claim directly with them. The insurer will reimburse the claim amount if the repair was done in a non-network garage.

      Third-Party Claims

      • To raise a third-party car insurance claim, the first step would be to file a Police FIR.
      • Also, inform your insurer about the accident
      • All such car insurance cases are forwarded to the Motor Tribunal Court.
      • The court will then decide the amount of compensation to be paid to the third party.
      • Once the compensation has been decided, the insurance company will pay the amount to the third party. And the claim will be settled.
