What Is Meant By IFSC Code?
IFSC is the short form for Indian Financial System Code. This is a system of ascribing a unique code to each branch of every bank which will distinguish them from each other.
Further, this unique code is used for the transfer of funds through electronic means such as NEFT and RTGS.
How Is the IFSC Code Made - The Structure
The IFSC code is a combination of alphabets and numbers. The Code has eleven characters. The first four characters are letters which represent the bank code. The last six are entirely digits, or number, which represent the branch code.
The last six digits are what make each IFSC code unique. The fifth character is a zero.
