Exclusions of National Bharat Griha Raksha Policy

Here are the exclusions of the National Bharat Griha Raksha Policy:

  • Loss due to deliberate, willful, or intentional act or omission of anyone on your behalf or with your connivance.
  • War, invasion, act of foreign enemy hostilities, civil war, mutiny, civil commotion, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, or military or usurped power.
  • Ionising radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or nuclear waste.
  • Pollution or contamination, unless directly resulting from an insured event.
  • Loss, damage, or destruction to electrical/electronic machinery, apparatus, fixtures, or fittings due to specified causes.
  • Loss or damage to certain items such as bullion, manuscripts, plans, drawings, securities, vehicles, and explosive substances.
  • Loss of any missing property mislaid or without identifiable event.
  • Loss or damage to property was removed from your home and moved to any other place.
  • Consequential or indirect Loss or damage of any kind.
  • Reduction in market value of any property after repair or reinstatement.
  • Any addition, extension, or alteration to the building increases its area by more than 10% without paying an additional premium.
  • Costs, fees, or expenses for preparing any claim.

Add-on Covers of National Bharat Griha Raksha Policy

Here are the two types of add-ons available with the National Bharat Griha Raksha Policy:

  1. Valuable Content Cover on Agreed Value Basis (under Home Contents Cover):

    A valuable content add-on protects valuable items such as jewellery, silverware, paintings, and works of art. With this cover, the insured and insurer agree upon the value of these contents based on a valuation certificate submitted by the insured and accepted by the insurer.
    If any insured event physically damages these valuable contents, the insurer will cover repairing the item. If the valuable contents are lost, the insurer will pay the sum insured for the item.

  2. Personal Accident Cover

    In case the insured peril causing damage to your home building and/or contents also results in the death of either the insured or their spouse, this add-on provides compensation of ₹5 lakh per person. Hence, this optional add-on cover ensures that the insured and their family get enough financial security in the unfortunate event of an accident resulting in death.

In-built Covers of the National Bharat Griha Raksha Policy

  1. Fees of Architect/Surveyor/Engineer

    Up to 5% of the claim amount will be used to pay the reasonable fees of architects, surveyors, and consulting engineers. This in-built add-on covers the expenses incurred in assessing damages, preparing estimates, and overseeing the repair/reconstruction process.

  2. Removal of Debris

    Get up to 2% of the claim amount to cover the costs of removing debris from the damaged site. After an insured event, there may be debris to clear, and this add-on covers the expenses incurred in removing it to expedite the restoration process.

The Bharat Griha Raksha Policy is available for individual homeowners, tenants, and corporate entities covering building and contents.

Claim Process of National Bharat Griha Raksha Policy

Here are the steps for the claim process of the National Bharat Griha Raksha Policy:

Step 1: Raise a Claim

  • You must initiate a claim for the sum insured (the amount of cover).
  • The insurer will verify the claim and accept it if it aligns with the terms and conditions of the policy.

Step 2: Inform About the Loss or Damage

In case of Loss or damage to your home building or its contents, you must notify the insurer immediately and must provide the following details:

  • Policy number
  • Your name
  • Details of any reports made to the police or other authorities
  • Details of the insured event
  • A Brief Statement of the Loss
  • Particulars of any other insurance covering your home building or contents
  • Details of Loss or damage under any optional cover or add-ons
  • Submit photographs of the Loss or physical damage, if possible.

Step 3: Report to Authorities
Inform the respective authorities, such as police, fire authorities, and appropriate legal authorities, of the Loss.

Step 4: Prevent Further Damage
Take all the safety measures to prevent further damage to your home building and contents.

Step 5: Gather Evidence
Collect evidence, including taking photographs and shooting a video of the damaged items & buildings.

Step 6: Cooperate in Investigation

  • Assist your insurance provider by providing them with gathered evidence and information related to the mishap.
  • Additionally, provide documents, including books of accounts & other relevant documents.

Step 7: Submit the Claim Form
Fill out and submit the claim form as soon as possible but within 30 days from the date you first notice the Loss or damage.

Step 8: Prove Losses
Remember, as a homeowner or tenant, you must prove that the insured event has occurred at your place with the gathered evidence and demonstrate the extent of your Loss to the right payout amount.
