4 Differences of Network and Non-Network Hospitals

Health insurance is a type of insurance which acts as a protection shield that helps the insured in dealing with the expenses associated with health issues. When you buy the health insurance policy, it will help you at times when you are financially not strong enough to bear the medical related expenses. The whole expenses will be covered by the insurance company and they pay to the hospital on your behalf. Now if we consider the costs of the present day medical check-ups and medicines, getting a health insurance has become of utmost importance.

But there are few things you need to contemplate while getting health insurance. One of them which makes a bit of a concern for the buyer is the preference of a cashless transactions. This is because, cashless transactions provide benefits to avail of the best possible health care without any worry of managing cash. This is where the entry of network hospitals takes place.

      Network Hospitals

Every insurance company has their tie-ups with few definite hospitals which are commonly known as Network hospitals. Only through network hospitals one could utilize the benefits of cashless transaction. When you get admitted to any one of the hospitals mentioned in the agreement (network hospital), you need not to worry about managing the expenses in cash for your treatment, as your insurer will directly bare the cost.

      Non-Network Hospitals

Non-network hospitals are those which are not mentioned in the agreement while buying a health insurance from the insurance company. When you get treatment at any of these non-network hospitals, you will need to pay the medical bills on your own and then claim the expenses by submitting the documents for reimbursement.

Differences Between Network and Non-network Hospitals

Here’re some of the major differences between network and non-network hospitals:

      • Network hospitals are clearly mentioned in the insurance agreement at the time of buying a health insurance policy. Non-network hospitals are the ones, apart from the mentioned hospitals in the agreement. People sometimes get admitted to the hospital which they prefer not the one which has a tie-up with the insurance company.
      • Network hospitals are the ones through which you can get to enjoy the profits associated with cashless transactions. But Non-network hospitals do not provide such facilities. The hospital bills are to paid initially on your own, where a claim can be registered for reimbursement later.
      • Network hospitals reduce the burden of paperwork. But when u get admitted to non-network hospitals, you will need to go through a long process of collecting and submitting documents for re-compensation. In case of network hospitals, the health insurance card is enough, or the pre-authorization latter works well here.
      • The biggest profit you can get when you get admitted at network hospital is that you need not panic about arranging cashes. But for non-network hospitals you have to arrange all the cash even before getting a treatment at the
      • In a network hospital, you do not have to deal with any delay. As soon as you submit the documents, the TPA at hospitalwill cross verify it and send it for the insurer’s approval and in due course all the medical expenses will be covered if the approval is granted. But in a non-network hospital though u submit the documents and go through all the required process, the insurer may take time for verification of the document.

To Use the Most of the Network Hospitals

The list of network hospitals can be found in the policy document or you can search through the official website of the insurer. Also, you can use PB network hospital locator to find a network hospital. To initiate it, just visit the official website of Policybazaar.com, navigate through the network hospitals option, provide necessary information such as insurer name, state, city etc. in the given box and click on ‘submit’ option.

      In a Nutshell!

In the end we can all agree that when we buy a cashless insurance policy, getting treatment in a network hospital would be the best choice of all. Network hospital will give us the freedom to get a quality health care even at the times of financial struggle. No delays and no paperwork and thus making people’s life easy and comfortable in the times of need.
