Why Should Disabled People Buy Health Insurance?

Here are some of the reasons why persons with disabilities must buy health insurance for disabled persons in India:

      1. High Prevalence of People with Disabilities

A considerable part of the Indian population comprises of people with disabilities. According to the 2011 Census, around 2.68 crore people in India are suffering from disabilities. Such people have special medical needs that are often not covered by regular health insurance plans in India. With health insurance for disabled person, the health needs and medical expenses of so many people suffering from disabilities are covered.

      2. Comprehensive Coverage for Handicapped People

In India, people suffering from 21 types of disabilities, such as hearing impairment, mental illness, blindness, autism, etc., are covered under medical insurance. Just like other people, persons with disabilities can also avail comprehensive coverage for a wide range of medical expenses, including hospitalization expenses, modern treatments, day care treatments, ambulance charges and pre-post hospitalization expenses, with health insurance for physically handicapped people.

      3. Protection Against Medical Inflation

Medical inflation in India is at its peak, making healthcare expenses extremely expensive. With limited sources of income, it gets very challenging for handicapped people to afford quality treatment at the right time. Health insurance for persons with disabilities covers the cost of the required treatment without worrying about paying the bills.
