      About Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Yojana (Now Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya)

      The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot, announced the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Yojana (Now Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya) during the 2021-22 State Budget. With this scheme, Rajasthan became the first Indian state to provide universal health insurance cover to all people. So far, more than 12 lakh people have availed free medical treatment under the scheme.

      The Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya scheme was initially launched with a coverage amount of ₹5 lakh and was later increased to ₹10 lakh with an additional accident cover worth ₹5 lakh. However, the annual sum insured have been further increased from ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh with an accident cover of ₹10 lakh in the 2023-24 Rajasthan Budget.

      Moreover, expensive treatments like heart transplants, liver transplants, bone marrow transplants and cochlear implants were also added to the scheme. Women heads of families covered under the scheme were also given smartphones with free internet connectivity for 3 years.

      Notably, the Rajasthan government pays the insurance premiums for all beneficiaries under the MAAY scheme. However, all families apart from the beneficiaries will have to pay an annual premium of ₹850 to avail the benefits of this scheme.

      The main eligibility criteria for the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Yojana (Now Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya) is to be a permanent resident of the state of Rajasthan. Nonetheless, the following people are eligible for free medical coverage under the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya scheme:

      • Below the Poverty Line (BPL) families registered under the SECC 2011
      • NFSA cardholders
      • EWS families
      • Small farmers
      • Jan Aadhaar cardholders
      • Families under the COVID-19 ex gratia list
      • Samvida/contractual workers from all departments

      • There is no restriction on the family size and age under the MAAY scheme.

      • Coverage for listed procedures and diseases are available.
      • In-patient treatment expenses, including room rent, OT charges, medical tests, etc., are covered.
      • Pre-hospitalisation expenses for up to 5 days before hospital admission and post-hospitalisation expenses for up to 15 days after getting discharged from the hospital are covered.

      The features of the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya scheme are listed below:

      • The Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana (MAAY) was formerly known as Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana.
      • This is the first health insurance initiative from the Rajasthan government that provides cashless treatment in registered government and private hospitals.
      • Health insurance cover is provided to all the families below the poverty line, and under NFSA EWS & SECC categories.
      • Beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Swasthya Bima Yojana can also get covered under the scheme.
      • Small/marginal farmers and contractual workers are also eligible for the MAAY scheme.
      • Children younger than 1 year can be covered under the scheme even if their name has not been added to the family card.
      • Families not falling under the eligibility criteria can also get insured by paying a nominal premium of ₹850 per annum.
      • In addition to major illnesses, the scheme also provides coverage for Covid-19 and hemodialysis.
      • The scheme does not cover state and central government employees.

      How to Register for Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Yojana (Now Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya)?

      While the SECC 2011 beneficiaries are no longer required to register for the scheme, other beneficiaries, including contract workers and small farmers, can register for the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Yojana (Now Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya) by following the steps below:

      Step 1: Visit sso.rajasthan.gov.in and click on the 'Register Here' button.

      Step 2: On the next page, click on the 'Registration' tab and choose the relevant option from 'Citizen', 'Udhyog' or 'Govt. Employee'.

      Step 3: Select an option for registration to proceed further.

      Step 4: Enter the required details and click on 'Next'.

      Step 5: Fill out the registration form accurately and submit it.

      Step 6: On successful registration, you will get the login credentials

      Step 7: You can use your login ID and password to open the dashboard and check the scheme details.
