Value-added services in workmen's compensation insurance

The insurance companies allow the employer to extend the coverage of the workmen's insurance policy. The employer may make some additions to the existing workmen's compensation insurance. Here are the value-added services provided under workmen compensation insurance.

Subcontractor Cover

Normal workmen's compensation insurance offers coverage to the employees. However, an employer may make some add-ons and extend the purview of the policy to the subcontractor. The subcontractor plays a crucial role in the overall development of construction work. Therefore the subcontractor can also get coverage under this add-on.

Medical Extension

Normally, workmen's compensation insurance does not provide coverage for severe disease or injury. However, upon the allocation of more premiums, the employer may push the policy towards covering severe diseases.

Terrorism

Like other policies, the workmen's compensation policy does not provide any coverage in case of war or nuclear explosion. However, after adding this particular add-on, the worker can get coverage for sustained injury due to terrorism.

Occupational Disease

A workman may not avail of the treatment for diseases as mentioned under part C of Schedule III of the act. Such diseases are Silico tuberculosis, extrinsic allergy, bagassosis, pneumoconiosis, etc. However, under policy extension, a workman may avail of treatment for such diseases mentioned or listed under part C.

Contractual Employees

The contractual employees do not cover under the workmen's compensation policy. However, under the policy extension, they may also avail of the aforementioned services.
